There is one place on Long Island that brings pumpkin picking fun to the next level. White Post Farms holds their annual Fall Farm Festivals every weekend through October, which includes six family-friendly shows, hayrides and pumpkin picking. After you select your pumpkin, walk around the petting zoo which includes kangaroos, zebras, sheep, or buy a few items at their country store.

People can begin their quest to find the perfect pumpkin at Schmitt's Family Farm. Offering acres of pumpkin fields and a corn maze, this farm is the perfect spot for families and children. Pumpkin pickers can run through the playground and enjoy complimentary hayrides, pony rides and a small petting zoo. For people looking for a scarier experience, they can head to Schmitt's Family Farm at night to get spooked at their frightful haunted mansion.

With over nine acres of on-the-vine pumpkin picking, Harbes Family Farm has served Long Islanders for more than 13 generations. There are three locations along Long Island's North Fork and the farm hosts annual fall festivals that are ideal for families. Children can enjoy pumpkin picking, apple picking, corn mazes, and hayrides.

Instead of heading east on Long Island, New Yorkers can visit the Queens County Farm Museum for their fall festivities. Occupying one of New York City's largest remaining tract of undisturbed farmland, the farm is over 47-acres with historic building, livestock, planting fields and herb gardens. Adults and children will have fun getting lost in the corn maze and finding the perfect pumpkin.

Coney Island is known for thrilling roller-coasters and Nathan's hotdogs during the summer months, but for people looking to go pumpkin picking they can head to Luna Park's Halloween Harvest. Boasting family activities every weekend through October, the festival gives children the chance to explore pumpkin patches, create Halloween-themed crafts and paint their pumpkins. They can also visit Jack, the giant pumpkin, and guess his weight for a chance to win prizes.
