All Clear Given, Subway Service Resumes After Investigation At Queens Subway Station

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Police investigated a possible suspicious item Friday at a subway station in Queens.

Authorities said a man apparently jumped onto the tracks around 6:45 a.m. at the Liberty Avenue and 80th Street station and was struck by an A train.

He was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Authorities said a possible suspicious item was found inside his backpack.

A train service was suspended in both directions between Euclid Avenue and Lefferts Boulevard/Howard Beach while the investigation was under way.

Around 8:45 a.m., the item was deemed safe and service resumed.
