Spring Concert Preview: The 5 Best Shows To See In NYC

The sounds of spring can be heard all around -- birds chirping, warm winds blowing, and live music flowing out of concert halls. From the incredible talents of Andrew Bird to the sweet voice of Leslie Feist, these shows will not disappoint. Here are just a few of the great concerts that bring artists from around the world to play in New York City.
Nightlife & Music Spring Concerts Nada Surf

Date: Saturday April 7, 2012

The band most popular for the song "Popular" has stayed strong throughout the years, and is still making great music both in the studio and live. The opening band is An Horse, who go on stage at 8 p.m., with Nada Surf taking the stage after them. Rock out to their album, "Weight is a Gift," before heading out to the show.

Andrew Bird is an amazing musician and hard worker, touring the country and making music during most of his waking moments. He has a new documentary called "Fever Year" that is part concert film and part documentary about his life. Sadly, it is only being shown only at music festivals, but you can see Bird in person at the Beacon Theater on Friday, May 4, 2012.

Nightlife & Music Spring Concert Lady Antebellum

Date: May 4 and 5, 2012

Country rock stars Lady Antebellum are going to bring the house down at the legendary Radio City Music Hall on May 4, 2012. Darius Rucker of Hootie and the Blowfish will be joining Lady Antebellum and this show will cross genres between country and rock. Ticket prices start at $55 and go up to $95, and they are still available through the Radio City website.

Leslie Feist loves to count to four and also enjoys playing shows for New York audiences, especially at Radio City. The indie darling just released her third studio album called "Metals," which is filled with more melancholy music than her first two releases. She even had a small cameo in the 2011 production of the "Muppet Movie" alongside Jason Segal. You can see Feist perform at Radio City Music Hall on Saturday, May 5, 2012.

Foster The People

Foster the People is best known for their catchy radio hit "Pumped Up Kicks," but don't let that stop you from exploring the rest of their music. The band has released one studio album called "Torches" which shot up to number eight on the Billboard music charts in the US. Listen to "Call it What You Want" and "Helena Beat" to get in the mood for their concert on Monday, June 11, 2012.
