1 Dead After Special Needs Bus, Tractor-Trailer Collide In Riverhead
RIVERHEAD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- At least one person was killed Wednesday after a collision between a special-needs bus and a tractor-trailer in the town of Riverhead.

A dispatcher for the Maryhaven special-needs said six clients were on the minibus along with two staffers, including the driver and an aide.
The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday on Sound Avenue. Police Chief David Hegermiller said the bus and tractor-trailer may have sideswiped each other.
He said a helicopter was evacuating some victims. The condition of the tractor-trailer driver was not immediately known. The truck was flipped on its side at the crash scene.
Area residents told WCBS 880's Sophia Hall that the road is known for its many accidents.
