Sources: 3 Children Robbed Of Sleds In Central Park Monday Night

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Three young children were robbed of their sleds Monday night, sources told CBS2.

The incident took place near 86th Street and Central Park West at around 5:30 p.m., sources said.

A 14-year-old boy, 12-year-old girl, and 10-year-old boy were in the park riding two plastic sleds when they were approached by three young boys, ages 10-16, sources said. The three boys asked if they could use the sleds, sources said.

The children turned over the sleds and the three boys started to walk out of the park with them. When one of the victims protested, the boys threatened them, sources said.

The 14-year-old boy tried to grab the sleds as the boys walked away and was pushed to the ground by the older suspect. When the 12-year-old girl protested, she was punched in the head, sources said.

The three boys got away with the sleds.

Later that same night, another Central Park visitor was robbed at knifepoint by two masked men.

That robbery took place very near the site of the sled robbery.
