Storm outages have hit the town of Ridgefield hard. In the last three big storms, the town lost 100 percent of its power.

Now First Selectman Rudy Marconi is suggesting that Connecticut Light & Power buy generators at a discount then sell them to its costumers across the state by adding a minimal monthly payment to their bills.

"Why can't the power company go back to something that some of them used to do years ago and offer this badly needed service that would help not only solve a lot of CL&P's issues in terms of the health, safety, and welfare of the people of Connecticut, but also give them some time to get restoration efforts going," he said.

"I do think it's a win win in that, after three storms, we know there's consistency in the response and restoration, specifically that it's going to take five or six days to really see a complement of crews necessary to restore power," Marconi told WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau.

Marconi said he hopes to sit down with CL&P officials next week to further discuss the idea. So far, CL&P it's an idea worth considering.
