Restaurant Owner Seeks To Set Record For Fast Pizza-Making

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A New York pizza shop owner has launched a quest to break a world record for the fastest number of pizzas ever made.

Bruno DiFabio, who owns restaurants across the country, told the New York Post he is trying to break a world record for fastest number of pizzas made. To do so, he will have to stretch five 10-ounce dough balls evenly onto 12-inch pizza baking sheets.

The current record is 28 seconds held by Brian Edler, who owns four Domino's franchises in Ohio.

DiFabio, 43, said a judge will time him at Harry's Italian Pizza Bar in New York City next month and he hopes a Guinness official will also attend, according to the paper.

The Yonkers native told the newspaper that he has worked in pizza parlors all his life and now owns three in Westchester County. His New York City restaurant, 900 degrees, closed last year, the newspaper reported.

He told the newspaper that to make a pizza in 25 seconds, he gets the dough to room temperature so it is easier to stretch, dips and eight-ounce ladle only once, does eight turns with the sauce, and grabs all the necessary cheese in a single handful.
