Woman Attacked While Taking Pictures In Inwood Hill Park

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A woman was attacked in Inwood Hill Park Saturday morning after an assailant accused her of photographing him, police said.

Police told 1010 WINS the woman was taking pictures in the park around 8 a.m., when she was approached by a man she didn't know.

He accused her of snapping pictures of him, and demanded that she erase them, police said. She told him she had done no such thing.

At that point, the man took a swipe at the woman's camera and hit her. She fell to the ground and suffered lacerations, police said.

Some people in the park heard the woman's cries for help and assisted, holding the man down until police arrived and the man was taken into custody.

The woman, who was in her 50s, was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in an unknown condition.
