Another NYPD Officer Suspended In NYPD Corruption Probe

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A fourth member of the NYPD has been suspended as part of an NYPD corruption probe.

Detective Michael Milici of the 66th Precinct in Brooklyn was suspended Monday, according to the NYPD.

Police sources told CBS2 Milici tried to try to retire quietly from the NYPD. His file was flagged by Internal Affairs because it is prohibited for anyone to retire as a way of dodging departmental charges.

The suspension is without pay.

The federal probe is looking into whether police officers accepted gifts from businessmen with ties to Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Last week, Deputy Chief Andrew Capul was moved to an administrative position pending further review. Earlier this month, Bratton removed four of the NYPD's most senior men, and two of them lost their guns and badges. A detective who took the Fifth Amendment before a grand jury also lost his gun and badge.

The probe has centered on two businessmen who have ties to de Blasio's campaign. Jeremy Reichberg and Jona Rechnitz both served on de Blasio's inaugural committee and either donated or raised money for him.

So far, nine police officials, including four deputy chiefs, have been transferred or stripped of their guns and badges as internal affairs detectives and FBI agents examine whether officers accepted gifts and trips from businessmen in exchange for police escorts, special parking privileges and other favors.

The investigation has also focused on fundraising efforts by Mayor Bill de Blasio and his campaign team.
