North Bergen Police Officer Julio Noriega Dies After Weekend Crash

NORTH BERGEN, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A New Jersey police officer died Monday following a crash over the weekend.

North Bergen Officer Julio Noriega was headed to work Saturday when his car struck a garbage truck and burst into flames.

He was unconscious when he was pulled from the vehicle and rushed to Jersey City Medical Center.

The department said Noriega died Monday morning and asked for prayers for his family and friends.
