Mumford & Sons Fans Shut Out At Queens Concert Can Request Refund
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Fans who purchased tickets but could not get into the Mumford & Sons concert at the reopening of the Forest Hills Tennis Stadium can request a refund.
The West Side Tennis Club, which owns the venue, said Thursday it will offer refunds "to those of you who didn't have an optimal experience" at Wednesday's concert in Queens.
The show was the first in more than 20 years at the 90-year-old stadium, where the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and the Rolling Stones once performed. Some concertgoers had trouble getting into the packed venue, and the statement said the stadium is dealing with "growing pains.''
Tickets cost $74. The 16,000 seats are all general admission.
The rock band drew a crowd to the historic club. Aside from the venue's so-called "growing pains," there were some folks who were happy Wednesday night: Local business owners.
Raquel Diaz is manager of a nearby restaurant called Dirty Pierre's. She told 1010 WINS the event led to a spike in business.
"We are not traditionally open for lunch, so we decided to do so for this event, so it's already turning out to be something really great," Diaz said.
