Mount Vernon Mother To Appear In Court After Death Of 15-Month Old Girl
MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Mount Vernon woman accused in the violent death of her toddler is due in court Wednesday.
Dasia Bartee, 26, is charged with first-degree manslaughter after her 15-month daughter, Samia Yusef, was found dead in their apartment earlier this month, CBS2 reported.
According to police, the child's body was extremely cold and may have been a freezer.
The DA says the girl was repeatedly hit with a "closed fist" and suffered "a painful, horrible death."
Samia has two older sisters, aged 6 and 9. Both girls have been removed from the home, despite the presence of extended family members.
