Metropolitan Museum Of Art Plans To Renovate Plaza
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A big renovation is in the works for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's plaza.
The museum plans to replace the faulty fountains, crumbling sidewalks and sick trees along its stretch on Fifth Avenue.
The renovation calls for new fountains closer to the entrance, trees to provide shade and more seating to relieve crowding on the museum's steps.
Once the city approves the plan work could begin this fall.
Museum trustee and philanthropist David H. Koch has pledged $60 million for the project.
