Metro-North On The Lookout For New Workers
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The job market is tight, but one local commuter railroad is looking to bring in new workers.

When the new year begins, Metro-North Railroad expects a spate of retirements.
"The people who started at Metro-North at its inception on January 1st, 1983 are reaching their potential 30-year retirement date," spokesperson Marjorie Anders told WCBS 880's Peter Haskell.
Anders said many of those conductors and engineers will likely retire. This means Metro-North is hiring and plenty of people are looking.

"Well, I have to say it's overwhelming. We get thousands of applicants for every class," she said.
There are currently nearly 120 people taking classes to fill the openings.
