Police: Gunman Robbed, Shot Man After Minor Meatpacking District Car Accident
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police Wednesday night were searching for a suspect who robbed and shot a man following a minor car accident in the Meatpacking District last week.
Around 4 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, the 27-year-old victim was involved in a collision with the suspect as he drove past 22 Gansevoort St., police said.
The victim exited his vehicle and approached the other driver, who took out a handgun and demanded the victim's property police said.
A struggle began, and the suspect fired the gun, striking the victim in the right leg, police said. The suspect and another man fled without any of the victim's property in a gray minivan, police said.
The victim was rushed to Bellevue Hospital Center, where his condition was reported as stable, police said.
The gunman was wearing a light sweater and a white hat, while the second man who was with him – described as a person of interest – was wearing a light sweater with a hood, police said.
Police have released surveillance images of both suspects.
