Manager Terry Collins Moves Struggling Ike Davis To Seventh Spot In Order

NEW YORK (WFAN) - Mets manager Terry Collins has dropped first baseman Ike Davis to the seventh spot in the lineup for Wednesday night's game against the Marlins.

It's been a brutal start for the slugger thus far in 2012. In 17 games heading into Wednesday night, the 25-year-old is batting .131 with three home runs and seven RBIs. Aside from his three long balls, Davis has just five other hits. He boasts a horrific .185 on-base percentage, a .279 slugging percentage and has struck out a remarkably troubling 21 times in just 61 at-bats.

Davis was moved to the sixth slot in the order on Tuesday night and went 0-for-2 with a strikeout before being pulled for a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning.

This will only be the second time that Davis has batted seventh in his Major League career. The only other time he was in the bottom third of the order was on May 7, 2010.

Do you expect Ike to bounce back soon, or will his struggles continue into the summer? Sound off with your thoughts and comments below...
