Burget Joint at The Parker Meridien

118 W 57th St
New York, NY 10019
(212) 708-7414

New Yorkers like to be 'in the know' when no one else is. Burger Joint plays to this; hidden in a corner of the lobby at the Parker Meridien is a neon sign in the shape of a burger, with an arrow beneath it. Follow the arrow to what could arguably be called New York's worst-kept secret; the lines are long and articles about this burger can be found on all corners of the internet. On a good day, the burgers are cooked perfectly to order and arrive juicy, hot, and delicious, but you could wait in line for an hour or more. Worth it? That's up to the eater.

Burger Zone

1830 2nd ave
New York, NY 10128
(212) 828-6400
burgerzoneny.com

A newcomer to the burger scene, Burger Zone occupies a space along a stretch of 2nd Avenue that's currently masked by lots of construction for the 2nd Avenue subway line. Despite this seeming calculation error, Burger Zone brings to the table very flavorful burgers that anyone can enjoy - though do note that they have their Kashrut certification, so there will be no bacon or cheeseburgers - with your choice of turkey, lamb, chicken, mushroom, and of course beef. Rounding out the menu with sides, anyone would do well grabbing a bite here.

Shake Shack

Multiple locations; check website
shakeshack.com/

Shake Shack isn't for everyone. There are haters, there are doubters, and there are those who simply don't get the hype. That's all well and good - please step out of line and let the rest of us eat our burgers in peace - but the simple fact is, Shake Shack knows how to make a burger, and that's to start with good meat. If you like burgers that are juicy but aren't huge, that have a good bun-to-meat ratio, are topped with tomato, butter lettuce and Shack sauce... this is the place for you. A single Shackburger is well-sized, with one patty, while a double Shack has, you guessed it, two patties, for larger eaters, and netiher will break the bank. The fries are also for a specific subset of people who like crinkle cut fries, which aren't for everyone, but the point of Shake Shack is, even after all the hype, that they do what they do, and they do it well. It isn't for everyone, and they don't mind one bit.
