New Jersey Man Charged With First-Degree Murder In Stabbing Death Outside Lounge
ELIZABETH, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- An Elizabeth, New Jersey, man has been charged with first-degree murder in a stabbing death outside a lounge.
The Union County Prosecutor's Office said in a statement that Saloman Rosendo Gomez-Serpas, 23, killed Mario Ortiz, 30, following an argument in the parking lot of Imperial Latino Lounge on the 600 block of New Point Road early Saturday morning.
Police said that the two were arguing when Gomez-Serpas stabbed Ortiz in the chest. Gomez-Serpas then allegedly ordered a woman into a nearby vehicle and fled the scene.
Ortiz died at the scene.
Gomez-Serpas was arrested around 2 p.m. Saturday at an apartment on the 500 block of Marshall Street in Elizabeth. The woman was also found unharmed.
Gomez-Serpas is currently in Union County Jail on $1 million bail.
Gomez-Serpas has been charged with first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping and a second-degree weapons offense.
