Jersey City Park Closed Due To Lead Paint Chips Falling From Turnpike Extension Project
JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A dangerous discovery was made in Jersey City Sunday as lead chips were found in a park.
City leaders shut down the popular Ninth Street Park after lead paint chips began falling from the Turnpike Extension Project.
The park also includes the Enos Jones Playground and the Roberto Clemente Baseball Field.
Crews will start cleaning up the areas Monday or Tuesday.
The Turnpike Authority told CBS2 workers will also install netting under the extension to prevent more paint chips from falling.
