Anyone still in the dark is asked to call 1-888-LIGHTSS.

Spokesman Todd Meyers says more than a thousand crews were out restoring power to residents and businesses -- double the response to Hurricane Irene.

Some crews will be sent home while others will be kept around to perform more lasting repairs.

"The main type will be going out to control all the different lines and circuits. There are some areas where there are still branches hanging up to the conductors," Meyers told WCBS 880 reporter Sean Adams.

The total cost of the restoration efforts has not yet been determined.
