Islanders Sign Veterans Boyes And Carkner
NEW YORK (WFAN) — The New York Islanders landed two free agents early in the free agent process.
General Manager Garth Snow snapped-up forward Brad Boyes and defenseman Matt Carkner.
Arthur Staple of Newsday confirmed 30-year old Boyes was given a one-year, $1 million dollar deal by the Islanders.
In 65 games with the Buffalo Sabres in 2011-12, Boyes scored 23 points.
Staple also reported the Islanders agreed a three-year contract with Carkner worth a total of $4.5 million dollars.
The 31-year old Carkner totaled 3 points in 29 games with the Ottawa Senators last season.
