NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - On the heels of the Colorado movie-theater massacre, authorities in the Tri-State Area are continuing their vigilance.
"To reassure the public, and out of abundance of caution, we will continue at least through today and tomorrow," Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne told WCBS 880's Jim Smith.

Browne said that it's a precaution against any would-be copycats, although he said that there have been no threats.
A similar plan is in store for the rest of the weekend at movie theaters in Connecticut, where State Police Spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance said to expect to see stepped-up security.
"We're going to keep this up indefinitely, where troopers will be making patrol checks," Vance said, "and we'll assess it as time goes on."
Vance added that whenever people go into public places they should stay alert, know where the exits are and always report suspicious activity to proper authorities.
