LI Doctor Completes Cross-Country Bike Ride To Raise Awareness Of Human Trafficking
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A team of cyclists completed a cross-country journey Saturday to raise awareness about human trafficking.
As WCBS 880's Ginny Kosola reported, human trafficking could be happening right where you live.
Dr. Santhosh Paulus, with Glen Cove Hospital/North Shore-LIJ, led the 3,400-mile journey that started on June 6 in Seattle, Washington.
"I had two main cyclists that did 139 miles on their longest days, and we had some other cyclists, myself included, who tried to add miles to that. So some days we did as much as 180 (miles)," he said.

Paulus said all along the way, he heard stories of human trafficking around the world as well as in the U.S.
Diana Mao, president of the Nomi Network, said if you see a teenager alone and it looks suspicious, call an agency.
"It is important to get them in a shelter with the care they need, because they are vulnerable," Mao said.
