Greenwich Hopes To Restore Power By Friday Night
GREENWICH, CT (WCBS 880) - The outages began in Greenwich on Wednesday and once fixed, a line blew again and there was damage to additional circuits.
So there, is a domino effect concern there, and another day of conservation requests from Connecticut Light & Power's Mitch Gross.
"Can you turn off some lights? Can you turn off a computer or two? Can you turn up the temperature on the air conditioning a few degrees?" says Gross. "We're asking for the conservation because that will help relieve some of the stress on the system and will help us hopefully quickly wrap up the repair."
"Clearly, as they're doing this repair, other customers are then taken off to make sure they don't surge the system," says Greenwich first selectman Peter Tesei.

It should be noted that these outages are not due to storm damage.
Tesei says he understands the utility has projects ongoing to boost reliability, but it's technically not even summer yet.
"We've experienced a few days of hot weather. I can only imagine what, you know, the months of July and August will bring," says Tesei.
Town libraries and the Greenwich Hyatt are open as cooling centers.
The hope is to have power restored by tonight.
