Police: Good Samaritan Attacked, Robbed In Midtown After Offering Coat To Man Lying On Ground
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Good Samaritan was attacked while trying to help a homeless man in Midtown.
Sources say the Good Samaritan offered his coat to a man who was lying on the ground on Fifth Avenue, but the man then got up and pushed him to the ground.
Police say he stole the 58-year-old victim's wallet, then assaulted him.
The suspect, 25-year-old Xavier Israel, has been arrested.
