Giants' Amukamara Likely Done For Year With Torn Biceps
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) — New York Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara left Monday night's game against the Indianapolis Colts with a torn biceps.
Amukamara, their top cover corner, was hurt in the first half. The Giants did not say how long Amukamara would be sidelined, but a torn biceps is usually a season-ending injury.
"There is a lot of concern," head coach Tom Coughlin said after the 40-24 loss. "We've lost a player or two in each game, it seems like. That's not a good one. Prince was playing well. He did a very nice job tonight and that was a blow to lose him."
When asked whether Amukamara would be lost for the season, Coughlin answered: "Normally that's surgery."
Amukamara has three interceptions this season, tied with Antrel Rolle for the team lead. He had three career interceptions coming into the season.
Amukamara was selected in the first round of the 2011 draft. The only full season he has played for New York was last year.
New York also lost rookie left guard Weston Richburg to a left ankle injury in the third quarter.
Richburg, a second-round pick, had started every game. He was carted off and the Giants announced he would not return.
Colts defensive tackle Ricky Jean Francois hurt a finger in the opening half. Linebacker Victor Butler left in the second half with a hamstring injury.
