eBay 'Inspiration Shop' Launches In Gramercy With Unique Approach To Holiday Shopping

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – As the holidays approach and shopping kicks into high gear, eBay and designer Jonathan Adler are making the sometimes dreaded experience a better one.

On Thursday, eBay and Jonathan Adler unveiled The eBay Inspiration Shop, a 24/7 storefront that features a collection of new merchandise for the season. Shoppers can download the eBay app and shop - whenever they want, wherever they want - and the red laser scanner technology built into the app allows product price comparison to what's on eBay.

"Consumers today expect to shop how they want, when they want – and mobile technology is blurring the lines between online and offline retail to meet this demand," said Richelle Parham, chief marketing officer, eBay North America. "The Inspiration Shop brings to life how eBay enables people to immediately act on their passion for shopping in this new commerce environment. Collaborating with a creative visionary like Jonathan Adler helps us present this innovative experience in such a chic and compelling way."

Additionally, wish lists from top trendsetters like Molly Sims, Betsey Johnson and Simon Doonan are showcased for further shopping inspiration.

According to a national survey on shopping, nearly half of shoppers want to make an immediate purpose when they find something they love. It is no secret that many of those shoppers dislike long lines, crowded stores, pushy sales teams and lack of inventory. As a result, the eBay app will combat all of these frustrations.

Once the eBay app is downloaded, shoppers can scan custom Quick Response codes and shop for similar items from over 200 million listings on eBay marketplace.
