Sources: 'Real Housewives Of New Jersey' Star Dina Manzo Bound, Beaten During Home Invasion

HOLMDEL, NJ (CBSNewYork) -- There were frightening moments for a reality TV star, over the weekend.

Sources tell CBS2 that "Real Housewives Of New Jersey" star Dina Manzo and another man were violently attacked during a home invasion in Holmdel Saturday night.

The incident took place at around 10:54 p.m. just as Manzo and another man, identified by sources as David Cantin, were returning to Cantin's home on Banyan Boulevard.

As they walked through the front door, they encountered two individuals who were already in the house.

One of the two attacked Cantin with a baseball bat. The other punched Manzo repeatedly.

Manzo, 46, and Cantin, 37, were tied up as the home invaders - who had their faces covered - continued their robbery, stealing cash and jewelry before taking off.

As CBS2's Jessica Borg reported, Cantin is a wealthy and well known car dealership owner.

"One of my sons came home late and said, there's something crazy going on there," neighbor Keith Finger said.

The two were eventually able to free themselves and called the police, but Cantin later told CBS2's Borg he wasn't even there.

They were both taken to a hospital for treatment. Cantin suffered significant facial injuries including a broken nose. Manzo also suffered facial injuries.

Neighbor June Jin said Cantin stays there sometimes on weekends.

"He's very nice," Jin said.

Jin believes the home was targeted because it usually looks like nobody is home.

"He never throw the garbage out. Always the light, always on, even in the day," Jin said.

Manzo hung up the phone without comment, and Cantin claims they both live in Malibu.

Neighbors in the normally quiet townhome community were taken aback by what happened.

"I scared now. I scared because I have a little girl," Santa Ortiz said.

Both have since been released from the hospital.

Manzo is reportedly bi-coastal splitting time between New Jersey and California. Cantin has family members who live in Manalapan.
