Day After Spring-Like Temps, Rain, Storms And Cold Move In

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The Tri-State area will be hit with a severe drop in temperatures a day after spring-like temperatures teased the region as rain, thunderstorms and even some snow moves in.

Forecasters say a narrow band of strong to possibly severe thunderstorms is expected to move through Wednesday before it turns sharply colder overnight.

CHECK: Forecast

A winter weather advisory is in effect for parts of New Jersey from 6 p.m. Wednesday until 11 a.m. Thursday and in parts of Connecticut from 10 p.m. Wednesday until noon Thursday.

The National Weather Service says precipitation may change over to a mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow as temperatures plunge into the 20s and teens. That could create slippery driving conditions early Thursday.

Forecasters say up to an inch of snow is possible in the higher terrain of northern Sussex County in New Jersey.
