STAMFORD, CT (WCBS 880) - Standing in their 60,000-square-foot warehouse, AmeriCares president Curt Welling told reporters that the third delivery of medical and hygiene supplies is now on it's way from Toyko to Sendai.

"The delivery to Japan was about 14 tons of medicine and, in terms of volume, that's obviously more than a couple of suitcases," said Welling.

He adds that private philanthropy has raised $250 million for this effort, a little short of what was raised after the earthquake in Haiti and after Hurricane Katrina.
