Connecticut Drama Teacher Charged With Child Pornography
LITCHFIELD, Conn. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A drama teacher at a private school in Connecticut was arrested Tuesday on child pornography charges.
Richard Doyle, 63, of Litchfield, Conn., was arrested at his home Tuesday. He was charged with receiving, distributing and possessing child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.
Prosecutors said a federal agent logged on to a public Internet file sharing program in October and downloaded child porn images from shared directories Doyle maintained. Federal agents seized computers and components at his home and office.
Doyle is a drama instructor at the Taft School in Watertown. A school official, Susan Henebry, told the Hartford Courant that Doyle has been placed on administrative leave, and the school is cooperating with authorities. The quote from Henebry in the Courant did not specify whether Doyle was placed on paid or unpaid leave.
Doyle said there was no indication that any Taft students were involved or at risk.
If convicted, Doyle faces a maximum of 30 years in prison and a fine of $500,000, the Courant reported.
