Christmas In September? Holiday Section Up And Running At Midtown Kmart

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Summer isn't even officially over but it's already beginning to look a lot like Christmas at one store in midtown Manhattan.

The Kmart on West 34th Street already has its Christmas section open for business.

The four aisles are stocked with artificial trees, wreaths, tinsel and other decorations.

Customers have to make their way past the costumes, Jack-o-Lanterns and candy in the Halloween section to get to the winter holiday goods.

Some customers believe it's a bit too early to be thinking about the holiday season.

"It's kind of sickening, isn't it?" one man said. "It's so early."

One woman believes the set up is a ploy to increase sales.

"You shop for Halloween and throw in some Christmas things at the same time," she said.

Others don't seem to mind getting into the holiday spirit.

"I might get some stuff for my sister cause she likes different types of ornaments," an Australian tourist said.
