Plane Returns To LaGuardia After Bird Strike Takes Out Engine

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A plane landed safely at LaGuardia Airport Friday evening, after a bird strike took out one of its engines.

Flight 2192 had just departed LaGuardia and was headed to Washington, D.C., when it hit an unknown number of birds, US Airways said.

The plane turned around after losing an engine and landed safely at LaGuardia, US Airways said.

A total of 96 passengers and five crewmembers were onboard. No one was injured.

The airline was expected either to re-accommodate the passengers or switch out the aircraft.
