2 Hurt After Car Crashes Into North Amityville Home
NORTH AMITYVILLE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A car crashed into a house on Long Island, injuring the driver and her passenger early Friday morning.
It happened at 5:15 a.m. on Matthew Drive in North Amityville.
The driver was going east on Joyce Avenue when she lost control of the car, striking a chain-link fence and then the house, police said.
Car Slams Into North Amityville Home
Homeowner Susan Heenan said she was sleeping when she heard a loud boom.
"At first I thought it was a transformer, you know that big banging sound, and I was panicking cause I thought maybe something fell on the house," she told 1010 WINS' Mona Rivera. "I went to look out my bedroom window and my husband said that somebody crashed into the house."
"The car was stuck in the house and there was two people in there," Heenan's husband, William, said.
The 56-year-old driver and a 57-year-old passenger, both of Massapequa, were taken to a hospital with minor injuries, Suffolk County police said.
Heenan, her husband, another adult and an 11-year-old girl were inside the home at the time of the crash. They were not hurt.
The home sustained structural damage.
No summonses were issued.
