Burned N.J. Man Charged With Transporting Explosives
NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - Authorities have arrested a North Caldwell man who turned up in an emergency room with burn injuries.
Authorities said Nicholas Gallo, 20, arrived in an emergency room with injuries suffered in a explosion on Jan. 19.
Following the explosion, his parents contacted the university Gallo attended in South Dakota to ask them to pack up his belongings, since he wouldn't be returning.
When school representatives got into his dorm room, authorities said they found it loaded with "various unidentifiable chemicals" and "various incendiary mixtures and materials."
Authorities said in the complaint that after looking through his Facebook account, it became clear Gallo was obsessed with explosives.
He is charged with "transportation of explosive materials without a license or permit."
Gallo could face 10 years in prison and $250,000.
