Madison Bumgarner (pictured celebrating with Buster Posey) and the San Francisco Giants are World Series champions for the third time in the last five years after they held off the Royals in what proved to be an intense Game 7 in Kansas City.

Jerry Recco filled us in on all of the details as only he can, providing plenty of postgame audio, including Bruce Bochy and his unmistakably gruff delivery.  The aforementioned Bumgarner took home MVP honors in what has to be considered one of the best Word Series performances of all time.  A fella named Rikk Wilde from Chevrolet also had a memorable performance while presenting Bumgarner with his hardware.

In other sports news, the NBA season got underway Wednesday night for the locals, and if the performances by the Knicks (104-80 losers to the Bulls at MSG) and the Nets (lost 121-105 in Boston) are any indications, it could be a long, lonely winter in the Big Apple. Luckily for all of you, Boomer & Carton will be here to entertain you throughout.

Plus, Joe Maddon will reportedly be the next manager of the Chicago Cubs, Jason Kidd loses his debut with the Bucks, Saints-Panthers kick off Week 9 of the NFL season tonight in Carolina and Rangers defenseman John Moore gets suspended five games for an illegal hit.
