NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Two local politicians were recognized by TIME Magazine Monday, making their way onto the publication's list of the "140 Best Twitter Feeds."
The ranking included celebrities, authors, business leaders, comedians, news sources and athletes who TIME said are "shaping the conversation" – 140 characters (or less) at a time.
Newark Mayor Cory Booker and New York Democratic Representative Anthony Weiner both made the cut.
Booker filled the 56th spot, as the magazine noted the way he "turned his Twitter handle into an online help hotline" during the snowstorm which paralyzed the Tri-State area last December.
"The mayor's personable and funny dispatches…were in stark contrast to the slow, sterile response from New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg," the article said.
Bloomberg, who was widely criticized for what many New Yorkers found to be inadequate response to the massive December snowstorm, also pales in comparison to Booker when it comes to Twitter followers. Booker boasts 1.1 million Twitter users, while Bloomberg has just over 60,000.
Additionally, a Democrat from New York known for making a statement – sometimes very loud, angry statements – came in at 35 on TIME's list.
Rep. Anthony Weiner was praised for his knowledge and fluency with the social media network.
"He's able to upload pictures, demonstrates actual understanding of hashtags and isn't afraid to make fun himself," TIME said.
