Best Places In NYC To Celebrate National Margarita Day 2016

Tequila lovers will be happy to know that Feb. 22 is National Margarita Day! Here are five places that are serving up some of the most unique margaritas in New York City. By Carly Petrone.

If you're looking for a twist on a typical margarita then head over to Dos Caminos. This year, they're inviting guests to try the newest addition to their menu: The Green Juice Margarita. This nutritious cocktail is packed with flavor thanks to the kale, cucumber, lime, apple, pineapple juice, ginger, and mint that's added to the tequila and coconut liqueur base. And don't forget about the rim of chili-lime salt along the glass; bottoms up!

If you only have $5 in your pocket, make your way to Blockheads, where their infamous bulldog margarita will only cost you that much. This menu item has been around for two decades and it's made up of frozen margarita with a mini beer and a shot of tequila. In the mood for a little bubbly instead? They've got you covered. Just ask for a "French Bulldog" and they'll substitute the beer with a split of champagne. You can also enjoy a variety of their $3 classic margaritas to go with that basket of chips and guacamole you're craving.

This year, Gilt City has teamed up with Mexican hot spot La Palapa to create an exclusive margarita recipe. The Gilt City x La Palapa Smoked Gilt Margarita includes Tequila Milagro Reposado, Illegal Mezcal Joven, Combier Orange liqueur, fresh squeezed lime juice, and Rgan's Orange Bitters No. 6. The most decadent part This cocktail is rimmed with Gilt-ed Somked Salt Rim, Maldon Smoked Salt, and Sugarflair Antique Gold Edible Lustre Dust. Customers can also take advantage of deals like a four-course tasting dinner for two with two margaritas per person for $75 or a weekend brunch for two with one margarita per person for $49. Escape this winter weather at this beachy restaurant and sit back with one of their five margarita choices. If you're ready for something on the spicier side, definitely try their Holla Pain Yo! It's composed of Tanteo jalapeno-infused tequila and fresh-squeezed citrus juices on the rocs. If you're in the mood for something lighter, test ou the Skinny Dip with El Jimador Silver, organic agave, and lime. But if you're ready to party, sip on the Tamarind Fizz, made with Maestro Dobel Reposado, Jarritos tamrind soda, and lime. It doesn't get much better than that.

Try their Jalapeno Cucumber Margarita ($9), made with Tequesta wine-based tequila, lime, agave, jalapeno puree, and cucumber puree. Pair this refreshing cocktail with one of their enticing menu items like their massive Super Cemita Poblano sandwich or the grasshopper tacos. You'll definitely taste the influences of Puebla, Mexico, the place where owner, Alejandra Aco, learned all of her culinary tricks of the trade.

This drink packs some serious punch with plenty of Alacran Reposado, Grand Marnier, fresh lime, fresh lemon, and muddled smoked jalapeños. It's also topped with ginger beer for a little extra kick.
