When it comes to enjoying the outdoors in New York City, you probably don't need us to tell you there's no better place to do so than Central Park. Yes, sunbathing on the Great Lawn is fabulous - but there's plenty  else to do, too. Have lunch at the boathouse, take a walking tour, check out the Belvedere Castle at 79th Street or plan a picnic.

Hiking At Prospect Park

Brooklyn, NY

Easily accessible by subway, bus or car, Prospect Park offers miles of nature trails. Hike, birdwatch and experience NYC like you didn't know you could. Prospect Park's Midwood Trail made our list of NYC's best - you'll feel so far from the hustle and bustle of the city streets, you'll stop worrying about your boss finding out you're playing hooky.

Get Some Exercise

There's a multitude of bike rental options in the Big Apple. Check out New York Bike Advice for locations, routes and rental prices. Our tip: Try the 57th Street entrance of Central Park for quick, affordable rentals in the heart of Central Park. Or lace up those sneakers and go for a run at once of New York City's best running spots.

You're going to have to wait in line - get over it. You won't regret it when you're enjoying an authentic New York City lunch in the sunshine. With locations in Madison Square Park and just outside Central Park, Shake Shack is the perfect midday nosh on a day like today - or any day you need an excuse to suck down a chocolate milkshake.

Grab A Drink Outside

What's better than an evening happy hour? Um, an outdoor evening happy hour, that's what. Our guess is the rooftop at 230 Fifth will be bustling this week, despite the seemingly unnecessary sky-high prices. Bowery Bar & Grill is another outdoor option - the downtown hot spot caters to a younger crowd. Our favorite pick for outdoor drinking is midtown's Perfect Pint: A four-level Irish bar with 30 beers on tap, and a rooftop offering views of lively 42nd Street, and $6 drafts.
