5 Best NYC Beer Week Events

From now through February 28, beer drinkers across New York City can cheers to their favorite drink. NYC Beer Week celebrates brewmasters and local breweries with plenty of events, panel discussions, and pairings happening across the city. Here are five things not to miss. By Carly Petrone.

Head over to the newly opened Treadwell Park and celebrate NYC Beer Week with brewmasters and beer drinkers alike. Nosh on amazing grub and complimentary popcorn or grab a seat by the cozy fireplace while sipping on your choice of over 20 draught beers and ciders and cask beer. You can even indulge in beer floats made with chocolate goat's milk and blue cheese ice cream. Plus, they're having some pretty fun events starting on Feb. 19, when Beer Project and Barrier Brewing will take part in a brewer's roundtable from 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. They'll also be bringing cask ales and limited one-off beers for those to taste. They'll top off NYC Beer Week on Feb. 28 with hors d'oeuvres paired with the "Champagne of Beers" – aka Deus Brut des Flandres – which is re-fermented in the bottle via the Methode Champeonois in Champagne, France. Mark your calendars for Feb. 21 because you can take part in the SMaSH Brewer's Brunch at Greenpoint Beer & Ale Co. Taste this new line of beer that uses local grains, hops, fruits, and honey to create one incredible brew. You'll get to taste the special State Malt and State Hop beers on draft to taste side by side. Meet the brewers themselves as well as the master of malting, Adam Filipetti. Event goes from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Celebrate NYC Beer Week with a Hell's Kitchen Pub Crawl with Harpoon Brewery. Grab your best beer buddies and gear up for a day of drinking. Start out at The New York Beer Company before heading over to The House of Brews on Restaurant Row. The next stop is The Jolly Monk followed by your last pour over at the flagship House of Brews on 51st St. Tickets are only $5 and it includes your first Harpoon draft pint. If you want to get inside the minds of today's great brewmasters and beer industry folk then block off your Sunday evening (Feb. 21) because four industry experts will be hosting a panel discussion at DBGB from 5 p.m. 7 p.m. Kelly Taylor (KelSO Owner-Brewer), Garrett Oliver (Brooklyn Brewery Brewmaster), Benjamin Weiss (The Bruery, Director of Brand Marketing), and Jimmy Carbone (Jimmy's No. 43 Owner and Host of Beer Sessions Radio on Heritage Radio Network) will all be on hand to answer your questions and discuss what it takes to be successful in this business. Learn about how to pair cheese and beer together and be the first to try an exclusive cheese that has been washed in Maine Beer. Tickets are $55 and event goes from 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Feb. 25.
