Prosecutors outlined a relationship Boyland, 41, developed with two undercover FBI agents who allegedly bribed him repeatedly.
On two occasions, prosecutors say Boyland accepted more than $7,000 in bribes - once in cold hard cash.
After establishing the relationship, though, Boyland allegedly sought a $250,000 to help facilitate a scheme involving the sale of an $8 million hospital.
"The extent of the charged corruption is staggering," said United States Attorney Loretta Lynch. "The message of this case is clear – we will utilize all available resources to protect the public's right to government free of corruption."
Less than three weeks ago, a Manhattan jury found Boyland not guilty to charges alleging he accepted money as a consultant in return for his influence on behalf of a health care group.
He is expected to be arraigned Tuesday in Brooklyn.
