6/16 CBS2 Tuesday Afternoon Weather Headlines

By Justin Lewis
CBS2 Meteorologist

Showers and storms will push into the area this afternoon. A few strong storms are possible with heavy rain and gusty winds being the greatest threat. Temps will soar into the mid 80s... that coupled with dew points in the mid 60s will make it feel like the upper 80s.

There will be a leftover evening shower or thunderstorm and then things should start to quiet down. Expect clearing skies and a drier wind out of the northwest. Lows will be in the mid to upper 60s.

High pressure will build just to our north tomorrow. Expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies and highs in the low 80s.

The aforementioned high pressure system will drift into the northwestern Atlantic on Thursday while a warm front approaches from our south and west. As of this morning, the models are having a tough time bringing in any significant moisture during the day, but we'll go ahead and leave in at least a chance for showers/storms with the best bet to our south and inland.

As of now, high pressure will build in at the end of the week with temps around or above normal.
