4/2 CBS2 Saturday Afternoon Weather Headlines

By Matt DeLucia
CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Good afternoon, everyone! The calendar may say April, but it'll be feeling far from it very soon! It remains unsettled this afternoon with some showers moving through, but we'll see some breaks too. Temps won't climb out of the upper 50s for most, a cool contrast to our high of 79 in NYC yesterday!

Late tonight is when things really start changing, all thanks to a very strong cold front that will be passing through overnight. Winds will be howling by daybreak Sunday with temps dropping into the 30s... but forget that, because it'll feel more like the teens and 20s across the Tri-State!

A High Wind Warning goes into effect at midnight and continues until Sunday afternoon. Gusts up to 40 mph overnight will transition to sustained 25-35 mph with gusts up to 60 by tomorrow morning. And that's not all... we're even expecting some snow to be flying out there to start Sunday, mainly for the city and points north. Just a trace in Central Park to 1-2" for the far NW higher elevations such as Monticello.

We'll see partly sunny skies by Sunday afternoon, but you'll definitely need the winter coat! Highs in the low 40s will feel more like the 20s for much of the day. Monday morning brings another chance for some flakes, followed by what looks like a damp day for the Yankees home opener! We stay below normal for the rest of the week. Don't worry, those warm temps will be back before you know it!

Have a good one and hold on to those hats!
