2/8 CBS2 Sunday Morning Weather Headlines

By Mark McIntyre Jr, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Good morning!

It'll be a gray Sunday across the region, but with decent temps around 40 in NYC.  Some showers move into the region late in the day. Folks north and west will have more of a rain/snow mix. Again, those northern spots will have the better chance of seeing precip. More concerning will be the Monday AM commute, with more snow north of I-84 and a mix of snow/rain/ice south of there - including NYC and Long Island.

How much snow, you ask?  Highest amounts will be Sullivan/Ulster/Dutchess, 8" to locally 1 foot. Looks like 4-8" in the rest of the lower Hudson Valley into Fairfield CT, 2-4" close to NYC, and nothing to perhaps 1-2" south of NYC into coastal New Jersey. Just like last Monday, there is a serious threat of freezing rain and at the worst time. As the storm exits Monday evening, cold air rushes in and provides a last chance burst of snow, which could bring another couple of inches on top of what already fell!

Tuesday features sunny skies and upper 30s for NYC. Stay tuned for more updates on this storm!
