1/17: CBS2 Saturday Afternoon Weather Headlines
By Matt DeLucia, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer
Good Afternoon,
It's a frigid one out there today, with highs only reaching the upper 20s in the city! Despite the cold, we're seeing plenty of sunshine this afternoon.
Clouds will be on the increase tonight ahead of tomorrow's storm. Temps will actually be rising overnight, and will be in the mid to upper 30s by day break tomorrow morning.
Your Sunday will feature a soaking rain for much of the day, as temps climb into the mid 40s. With temps close to the freezing mark at the onset, precip may be of the frozen type to start, especially for the NW suburbs. We quickly move into the 40s, and periods of heavy rain look likely during the midday hours. I'm expecting a general 1-2" of rain from this system, with the highest amounts along the I-95 corridor. Definitely will need the umbrella tomorrow!
It clears out for Monday with partly cloudy skies. Expect a high around 40 for MLK Day, but it will be on the breezy side.
Check back in later today for updates on tomorrow's system!
