1/1 CBS2 Thursday Afternoon Weather Headlines

By Matt DeLucia, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Good afternoon and Happy New Year!

We have another cold day on tap for today, with highs only reaching the upper 30s this afternoon. With a west wind coming in at 15-20 mph, it'll feel more like the 20s!

Mostly clear skies tonight with a low in the upper 20s to around 30 in the city. It'll remain windy, so bundle up if you'll be heading out later this evening.

We'll be back to seasonable temps for your Friday with highs right around 40 under mostly sunny skies. This will likely be the pick of the week as far as weather is concerned.

This weekend will feature a storm system that will bring our next round of precipitation.

As of now, it looks like the bulk will be rain. However, a wet snow or wintry mix to start is certainly in the cards, especially for the NW suburbs.

Expect increasing clouds on Saturday, with precip moving in by the dinner hour. Any snow should change over to rain during the overnight hours as temps rise into the 40s. Rain lingers into Sunday, with a mild high in the 50s!
