1/1 CBS2 Friday Afternoon Weather Headlines

Good afternoon, folks! Hope your new year is off to a fantastic start. It's chilly out there, but we're still above normal by several degrees believe it out not. Expect temps to top out in the low and mid 40s under a mix of sun and clouds. It'll stay breezy, with NW winds 10-15 mph.
Don't be surprised if you see a few flakes in the NW suburbs heading into this evening. Everyone else should remain dry, with temps falling into the 30s through the night. We'll bottom out at 32 in the city while it reaches the 20s N&W.
A pretty nice weekend is on tap with plenty of sunshine. Temps will be close to seasonable, reaching the upper 30s to low 40s. It's Monday that we really start to get a taste of winter, with highs only in the 30s. It's looking like overnight lows in Central Park will drop below freezing early next week, which would be the first time since late March (we reached 32 on November 24th, but never dropped below).
After that, we jump back into the 40s later next week. Some of the long range models are showing some better set-ups for snow heading into mid January... while way to far out to talk about, at least it's hinting at it... the ski resorts could use some badly! At least with the upcoming temps, they'll be able to crank up the machines once again.
Have a great Friday and check back in soon!
