10/1 CBS2 Thursday Afternoon Weather Headlines

By Matt DeLucia

Looking at a lot of clouds out there today with much cooler temps. Highs won't get much higher than the low 60s. There will be some showers around, mainly south and east of the city. Expect some periods rain late tonight, and the breezy conditions will continue. Coastal Flood Advisories are in effect due to the strong onshore winds.

It's looking more windy tomorrow and the chance of some coastal flooding goes up a bit. As of now, expect some steadier rain later tomorrow and into Saturday morning. All of this is associated with the stalled front off the coast, with low pressure riding up and pulling up the tropical moisture. Even cooler tomorrow, with highs in the upper 50s.

Now for the latest on Hurricane Joaquin... unfortunately, there remains much uncertainty with what will happen with this system. Does it ride north/northwest and make landfall along the Eastern seaboard? Does it hug the coast, or even stay off the coast entirely? Model consensus has been extremely poor, however there may be an eastward trend beginning. The time period for it affecting our area would be late Sunday night and Monday. This is just one of those situations where the forecast is extremely difficult.

New data will come in a little later today, so be sure to check back for an update! And keep those umbrellas handy!
