SUNDAY: Hillary Clinton, and how the GOP will handle Donald Trump
As Donald Trump clinches the Republican nomination and Hillary Clinton inches closer to the number of delegates she'll need to win the Democratic nod, is it officially game on for the 2016 general election? This Sunday on Face the Nation, we'll look at the lay of the land.
We'll sit down with former Secretary of State Clinton in California, the state that will effectively end the Democratic contest on June 7. The results there could well make Clinton the presumptive nominee, but is she worried that Bernie Sanders might finish strong and carry his bid all the way to the convention?
And of course, the big question - how is she preparing to take on Trump in November?
We'll also hear from a panel of conservatives on how the movement - and the Republican Party - is grappling with Trump's now-assured nomination. Is this a crisis, an opportunity, or perhaps both? American Conservative Union Chairman Matt Schlapp, Republican strategist and CBSN political contributor Leslie Sanchez, Jennifer Rubin, who writes the Washington Post's Right Turn blog, and Russell Moore, the president of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, will weigh in.
And as always, we'll have an expert political panel on hand to break down the busy news week. This week, we'll get insight from the Federalist's Ben Domenech, Washington Post columnist Ruth Marcus, the New York Times' Jonathan Martin, and the Cook Political Report's Amy Walter.
