In today's BTalk I talk to Debra Miller about this and other findings from the survey, including the impact of smart phones and social media on buyer behaviour. It's becoming clearer by the day that traditional retailers can't ignore online any longer, it's becoming an intrinsic part of the buying process. Today, with the prevalence of smart phone, even impulse purchases can be moderated by a quick comparison-shop online.
This all tells me that some Australian retailers are behind the eight-ball when it comes to online retailing. Many of us are buying from overseas. Offering an easy in-store returns policy is a sensible way for local stores to counter lost sales to international competitors.
